Frequently asked questions

How long does the tour last?

Our tour lasts approximately 1.5 - 2 hours and covers around 2km.

How many people are on a tour?

We keep our group sizes small for a more personal experience. Each tour runs with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 15 participants. This allows us to move at a comfortable pace, interact more easily, and ensure everyone can hear and engage with the guide

What if it rains?

We're here for the wind, rain, snow (and those occasional sunny days too) - this is Scotland after all, we're used to bad weather! Please check the forecast and dress accordingly. In the case of extreme weather, we may reschedule.

What should I bring/wear?

You'll be walking uphill throughout the tour so we recommend comfortable footwear, and dress for the weather. We recommend bringing water, sunscreen, and a hat for the rare Scottish sunny summer days.

What language is the tour in?

This tour is conducted in English. While it is best suited for fluent English speakers, we recommend a good intermediate level to fully appreciate the depth of the stories. Translated materials or audio guides may be provided in the future to support non-English speakers but currently aren't available

Is the tour suitable for children?

The tour is suitable for ages 15 and up. It contains mature themes including witch trials, historical executions, and complex social issues, so it is best suited to teenagers and adults with an interest in history.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, advance booking is highly recommended as spots are limited. You can book online here.

What if I'm running late?

Please contact us as soon as possible. We can’t guarantee we’ll wait, but we’ll do our best to help you catch up if feasible.
